Available Now - Beguiled and Her Beguiling Bride!

My historical romance, Beguiled, and the short sequel, Her Beguiling Bride, are both available, exclusively at Amazon. I can't wait to hear from readers to see if they like the changes!

Beguiled was originally novella length, written in first person, and published with Loose Id. After obtaining the rights back, I completely overhauled the entire book, turning it into a 70,000 word, third person, deep point of view, novel.  Changing the story enabled me to add scenes from Alice's perspective. I also paid great attention to building the romance between the two heroines.

I hope you enjoy Beguiled! And if you like it, be sure to pick up a copy of Her Beguiling Bride!

The Civil War has torn Isabelle Holloway’s world apart, and now she has little help to manage her vast Georgia plantation. But when the Union Army leaves a brash Yankee Zouave behind, Isabelle is inexplicably moved to nurse this gravely wounded, startlingly beguiling soldier.

But after the alluring Southern Belle discovers her true identity, their clash of wills soon transforms into passion-filled nights in each other’s arms. Alice has been in love with a woman before, and fears risking everything for her enemy lover. About Writing Beguiled:

Beguiled was originally released as a thirty thousand word novella, written from in first person from the perspective of Isabelle, one of the heroines. After obtaining the rights back from the publisher, I decided to overhaul the story completely, based on reader reviews, and my own love of the characters whom I felt needed far more plot and romance than I'd originally given them. Beguiled is now a seventy thousand word, full-length novel, written in third person, deep pov, which enabled me to include scenes from Alice's point of view.

Read an excerpt from Beguiled:

Isabelle couldn't stifle her gasp of shock. Private Albert O’Malley was…a woman.

No wonder the Yankees had left him—Isabelle shook her head—her behind.

She gingerly pulled the hem of the girl’s shirt down to cover the dark auburn thatch of hair at the juncture of her thighs then straightened from where she’d been leaning over the bed. “A woman…”

Uncle Hewlett made a sound of derision, muttering something under his breath Isabelle didn't comprehend.

“I’ll go take care of the other one,” he told her.

“Yes, that’s a good idea. I’ll see to…to her.” Isabelle still couldn't believe it. A woman! Why hadn't she said something earlier? Isabelle would have sent for Granny Page immediately.

As soon as Uncle Hewlett left the room, Isabelle lit the oil lamp and turned up the wick to inspect the Yankee girl’s wound. Her nose wrinkled at the sight. The wound had suppurated and pus oozed around the purplish, bruised flesh.

Isabelle couldn’t imagine the pain the woman must be suffering. She needed morphine. Scar tissue had begun to form and rippled like big, red rose petals around the edges of the lesion.

She glanced at the woman’s face, trying to imagine her clad in that uniform, charging into battle alongside a band of war-hardened men. Admiration vied with bewilderment for prominence. What would possess a woman to do such a thing? And yet, Isabelle found herself suddenly obsessed with the idea of a woman wearing men’s clothing.

The Yankee’s lips parted and she tried to speak, but Isabelle pressed a finger to them, surprised by their softness.

She’d imagined kissing those lips earlier, when she’d assumed the private was a man. But even though she now knew better, Isabelle still couldn’t shake the illicit thought. The lingering desire disturbed it. She shouldn’t have had it in the first place. And it most certainly shouldn’t have persisted once she’d discovered the soldier’s sex.

Even the girl’s figure seemed boyish. Lean and muscular legs stretched nearly to the footboard of the bed. Her torso was straight, her breasts scant beneath the thin cotton shirt soaked wet with her sweat.

But looking at her now, how could she not have known? The red-head’s peaches-and-cream complexion would have been enviable had she not spent so much time in the sun. That hair, however…

Isabelle shook her head. Someone, probably the Yankee herself, had hacked it off above chin length. It’d be years before her hair grew long enough to properly style.

After turning down the lamp, Isabelle gently pulled the covers back up to the girl’s shoulders.

“C-cold…” she muttered, her teeth chattering.

Isabelle retrieved a knitted afghan from her cedar chest and placed it over her, but the girl couldn’t stop shaking. A sense of helplessness washed over Isabelle. There was nothing more she could do. The fever would simply have to run its course.

When the girl whimpered, Isabelle blew out a breath and slid under the covers next to her.

The girl’s body radiated heat. Mewling, she wrestled underneath the heavy covers, trying to move away, but Isabelle slipped an arm over her torso.

“Lie still, girl.”

The Yankee muttered something incoherent but stopped moving, and soon, her breathing became deep and even.

Isabelle lay awake, her head sharing a pillow with the woman next to her. She hadn’t touched anyone like this since the last time Dalton came home on leave.

Then, it’d been Dalton who’d lain stiflingly close to her in the bed while she remained still as a hare, dreading his rough touch, the male scents and sounds of him, and later the stickiness between her legs.

As a wife, she knew it was her duty to endure marital relations, but she hadn’t expected sex to be so…unpleasant. She’d touched herself in the dark and had always found release, but Dalton had inspired no such desire in her.

The Yankee girl shivered and Isabelle scooted closer, hoping the fever would break soon.

Thank you for visiting with me today! I am thrilled to be here and announce my new novella with Ellora’s Cave, SUGAR RUSH.

SUGAR RUSH is part of EC’s Hot Pink line, a series of lesbian romances. When I first saw EC’s call for this particular genre, I admit I was surprised. Now, I knew Ellora’s Cave already had a few F/F titles available (including Paisley’s Fall to Pieces, which I enjoyed recently), and the pub isn’t one you’d normally associate with lesbian fiction. I suppose that intrigued me enough to submit. I love that EC is willing to give more genres a chance, and I’m happy to be included with so many other authors I’ve read and admired.

Originally I intended SUGAR RUSH to be a one-off story, but my editor loved it and asked if I would consider a follow-up. I may not write a several-book series based on Neve’s bakery, but I believe there’s one more story to be told, and I’m pleased to inform that I’m 10,000 words into writing SUGAR HIGH, which I hope to see for sale. I would love to see these stories in paperback, too, but that may require a third story to make the word count. Never say never, I say!

If you are new to lesbian romance, I recommend trying some of the Hot Pink titles at Ellora’s Cave. These authors are great storytellers and create believable, beautiful heroines you will adore. I hope you’ll enjoy SUGAR RUSH and the giveaway I have set up below. Good luck!

While this is a stand-alone story, we recommend reading Attracted to Him first.

Millionaire sex-toy creator Aniston is on a mission. She’s going to crack the icy exterior of her best customer’s assistant Madilyn and melt her heart, if it’s the last thing she does. Her tempting strategy includes her glass chateau in the Colorado Rockies, a bit of bondage, toys she’s whipped up especially for Madilyn and lots of erotic pleasure.

Relationship-shy Madilyn has kept her intense attraction to Aniston hidden behind her cool exterior. After a disastrous breakup with her first—and only—girlfriend, she’s not interested in risking her heart again, no matter how sexy the other woman is.

When she discovers Aniston skinny-dipping in her luxurious swimming pool, Madilyn is faced with a decision—to jump into a relationship all the way, or leave without knowing if the sizzling chemistry between them could lead to much more.

Shower Sex by Guest Blogger Lucy Felthouse (@cw1985)

Please join me in welcoming author, Lucy Felthouse, to my blog today! Be sure to enter her giveaway before you click those buy links!

Who doesn’t love themselves some shower sex? Ooh yes, shower sex in all its wet, soapy and often impractical glory. That last point won’t be forgotten, sadly, but this is why it’s so fantastic to be writing a sports romance series, where a great deal of the action takes place in a sports facility. That means changing rooms, which in turn means large shower areas. Perfect for spying, soaping and seduction. And that’s exactly what takes place in Sweet Spot.

The two female leads spend a great deal of time together, but nothing’s ever happened between them. Virginia doesn’t even know if Nadia likes women, let alone if she likes her. So imagine her surprise when what should have been a simple shower turns into something considerably more... something incredibly sexy and unforgettable.

Writing this book was fantastic fun, as was the shower scene. As I mentioned before, shower sex is often impractical—putting on and using a condom in the shower would be difficult, possibly dangerous if not impossible. Cubicles are small, then there’s the matter of the cold tiled walls, slippery surfaces and the danger of running out of hot water. Not conducive to sexiness, eh? But when you throw two luscious ladies into the equation, condoms are no longer a consideration, and since there’s plenty of room in the changing areas of Los Carlos Tennis Academy, ladies can spread out and give and take pleasure however they like.

If you really want to see how I made this hot scene work, you’ll just have to read the book ;)

Happy Reading,

Lucy x

Nadia Gorlando and I had just gotten off the exercise bikes in the gym when one of the academy’s coaches, Peter Ross, headed over to us, all smiles.

“Hey, Nadia,” he said, his all-American grin widening and his blond hair flopping down over his forehead, “I need a huge favor.”

I flicked my gaze to Nadia. She raised one of her perfectly shaped eyebrows and waited for him to continue. He did.

“I totally lost track of time just now and I have an appointment with Travis Connolly. Would you mind wiping down my machine for me? Or maybe stick a note on it saying it’s out of order? I don’t want to leave it all sweaty for someone else. You’ll be doing me a real solid. I’ll owe you.”

My jaw almost hit the floor.

Now Nadia rolled her eyes, looked over at the offending machine, then back at Peter. “Sure, I understand,” she said, as cool as ice. “The world’s number one can’t wait. Go right ahead—I’ll fix it for you.”

He babbled a load of thanks, then jogged out of the gym.

I gaped at her. “You’re not going to do it, are you?”

Nadia chuckled. “Of course not. He may be coaching Travis Connolly and Rufus Lampani for the US Open, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to clean up his mess.” She pointed with her chin over to the machine Peter had just vacated. “Come on, V, I’ll show you how I’m going to deal with this.”

I followed her, grinning. Her tone told me that it was going to be something fun. Well, for us, anyway. Probably not for Peter.

Sure enough, when she returned from the room off the side of the gym, she had a pad of paper and a pen in her hands. Deliberately shielding the pad from my view, she wrote something down, then pulled off the top sheet. Folding it, she then propped it on the sweat-slicked seat so the writing was on view to anyone who happened past.

When I’d read and absorbed the words, I turned to Nadia, impressed. Her smile lit up her face, showing dimples in each cheek, and her brown eyes gleamed with amusement.

It was in that moment that I decided I had the serious hots for Nadia Gorlando.

The sign read,

A Raw Talent book.

Virginia Miller is an up-and-coming tennis star. She’s gone from a ratty tennis court in a park in south London, England, to the world’s top training facility—Los Carlos Tennis Academy in California. In awe of the talent around her, Virginia is all the more determined to make the most of the opportunity and show that she’s worthy of her place there. Her mentor, Nadia Gorlando, has every faith in her.

But Virginia finds herself distracted—Nadia, as well as being a top-notch tennis player, is seriously sexy, and Virginia’s mind keeps wandering where it shouldn’t. Will her crush get in the way of her career, or can she find a way to push the other woman out of her mind before it’s too late?

“There’s the domme I wanted you to meet.”

Jezebel’s heart ran wild as she looked in the same direction as Mallory. She’d expected to see someone like Angel. And although her domme wasn’t tatted all over and pierced in every orifice, she looked no less formidable.

Tall and thin with spiky short black hair shaved close on one side of her head, the dominatrix conveyed a mixture of hard-edged control and soft vulnerability. Long mocha-latte colored legs moved sensuously in and out of the panels of her hip-hugging carwash skirt. A cropped leather top bared intimidating washboard abs. One gold cuff encircled her gleaming, cinnamon-colored bicep.

Full lips and big, fathomless, almond shaped eyes fringed with thick black lashes gave her a feminine appearance that seemed at odds with her lean, muscular frame.

Jezebel gulped as the woman approached.

She dipped to kiss Mallory on each cheek. “Why’d you bring this sweet thing up in here, knowing I was just going to say no?” Her dark gaze swiveled to Jezebel.

Jezebel had never been so affected by anyone before. Her nipples tightened against the rough lace of her bra. Her channel clenched as she imagined this lovely Amazon taking her to task.

“Why don’t you just take her for a little test drive?” Mallory asked.

What? Here? Now? “I…I only came to watch…”

The Amazon chuckled softly. “Mistress.”

“Excuse me?” Jezebel asked, wondering if this was really about to happen. And knowing she wouldn’t stop it if it did.

“Well, that was quick,” Mallory said. “No intro. Just straight to it. No pun intended.”

“I…” Part of Jezebel wanted to flee. Another part wanted to unzip her dress and beg this leggy goddess to strap her to that cross.

“Jezebel Jones, meet Billie Martin. Mistress to you.”

Jezebel had done a little online research before coming here. And though the Beaver Dam itself couldn’t be found on the internet, most other BDSM establishments laid out rules between dominants and submissives, indicated there were contracts to be explored, STD testing to be done, all manner of things. None of them said anything about…this.

“I ought to flog you for this,” Billie said with a smirk in Mallory’s direction. She turned back to Jezebel, raking her with an admiring gaze. “You know I can’t resist the pretty ones.”

“Go easy on her, Bill. She’s a discipline virgin.”

Jezebel shook her head, shocked that this could all be played out right here, right now. Instinct urged her to jet for the door. Something more primal and needy kept her feet nailed to the floor. “I…I think I might want to leave now.”

Billie’s eyes never left Jezebel’s. “Your safeword is red. Yellow if you want to back down a little.”

“Then color me yellow,” Jezebel said. Her brain screamed at her to run. Her body wanted to know just what red entailed. In fact, green was about to ride roughshod overrode all common sense.

Her body hummed with desire that gave a voice to the invisible little devil sitting on her shoulder who whispered that it was high time she considered her own needs. No one in her family would ever know. Just this once…

Praised as "mesmerizing" by the InsightOut Book Club, the world's largest LGBT reading group, Cleis's Best Lesbian Erotica is the standard bearer for the genre. Kathleen Warnock takes the series to new heights of ecstasy with the 2014 installment, a sensational and sensual collection of delightfully smart smut. A Goldie nominated editor, Warnock collects stories from around the globe, giving this assemblage a fresh sensibility and new points of view.

The depth of its characters is what truly sets Best Lesbian Erotica 2014 apart; each woman is written so realistically that you can almost feel the warmth of their bodies in the bed beside you. Jonah loans her new neighbor more than just flour and sugar in Sam Tweed’s “Who at My Door is Standing.” Two strangers meet at the gym, and have the best workout of their lives, in Sinclair Sexsmith’s “A Good Workout.” A writer learns that her editor wants to turn her erotic anthology into a reality in Nairne Holtz’s “Call for Submission.” Sensual and seductive, this assertive anthology will grip you until the very last word.

An excerpt from “Nocturne” by Cheryl Jimmerson in Best Lesbian Erotica 2014

She lives in a shabby two-story building. I entered cautiously. She was on the top floor. I climbed the stairs, taking notice of the cracks in the walls. Pieces of conversation and the noise of a blaring television spilled out into the hall. I took a deep breath and knocked on her door. She opened it and stepped aside. It was a small apartment, sparsely furnished with secondhand items. On the walls were vibrant African prints. She offered me a beer and we sat on the couch and talked. I kept my eyes straight ahead, unable to look at her at first.

“I didn’t know clubs like that existed,” I said.

“It’s the only club like that in the city. It’s been there for over twenty years. I’m glad you stumbled in,” she said, taking hold of my chin and turning my face to her. “You have trouble looking at me, don’t you?”

 “I’m just nervous.”

“Don’t be,” she said, leaning in to kiss me.

I eagerly kissed her back, taking her soft, lower lip into my mouth.

“I was hoping I’d have the chance to kiss you again,” she said, sweeping me into her arms.

I held on to her and looked over at the open door of the bedroom a few feet away. All I could make out was a corner of the bed. I didn’t want to end up there. I couldn’t. I told myself I would leave before it happened. But her long fingers went to work unbuttoning my blouse and then caressing my breasts. All I could do was sit there as she slipped them out of my bra and began to suck them. I couldn’t leave and didn’t want to. After a while I reached for her shirt, and undid the buttons. She wasn’t wearing a bra. I gazed at the deep purple of her nipples, in such stark contrast to the rest of her body.

“My god,” I said, running my knuckles across them. “Have they always been this color?”

“Yes, it’s their natural color,” she said sounding amused.

I leaned over and kissed them. Soon I was kissing every inch of her. She lay back on the sofa, letting me. I’m lost, I kept thinking. I’m lost. Then she got up from the couch.

“Let’s go in here,” she said.

I looked again into the bedroom, not sure what to do next. She took my hand and led me in. She turned on the light, undressed and climbed on the bed. “Are you coming?” she asked.

I stood there trying to convince myself to leave. But the beauty of her body, naked and stretched to its full length across the bed, pulled me in. I undressed and climbed in beside her. I ran my hands over her body and retraced the trail with my mouth. I was inexperienced, but it didn’t matter. I wanted her. I saved the coarse patch of hair between her legs for last. I parted it with my tongue, and sought out the tender arrowhead of flesh. I sucked it hungrily, half expecting something or someone to come crashing in on us and stop me. But there were only her throaty whispers encouraging me with “Yes, oh yes,” and “Please…” as she spread her legs farther apart for me. Like a glutton I stayed there, lapping away at her until I’d exhausted myself and my chin was wet.

Full of energy, Lorraine wrapped her legs around my waist, and with one quick turn, flipped me over on my back, straddling me. “You waited long enough to call. I was waiting to hear from you.”

 “I’m sorry,” I told her.

“No, you’re not,” she said, sliding off of me, then parting my legs with her knee and pushing her fingers inside of me. “I’d like to make you sorry for keeping me waiting. Giving me that half-assed dance, then running away like a child. I should have dragged you by the hair into one of those filthy stalls and made you take me like this,” she said, thrusting her fingers deeper, “Miss Standoffish.”

I closed my eyes as her long fingers moved inside of me. I struggled to contain my body’s response as my back and ass rose from the bed.

“Settle down and say you’re sorry,” she said, moving her fingers deeper and faster.

 “I’m sorry!”

 “I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” I shouted.

My Writing Process Blog Tour

Let’s make the best of Monday! I’ve been invited to take part in a “My Writing Process” blog tour where authors dish on their inspiration, characters, settings, and craft.

I was graciously invited to join the tour by author, Debra Glass, who blogged about her process last Monday on her own blog. Debra writes steamy historical romances featuring characters who don’t shy away from scandal. Thanks for inviting me to participate, Debra!

All writers employ different techniques to get their words on the page. Some enjoy the chaos of coffee shops and others love the quiet solitude of a library.

One of the most prolific writers of our time, Stephen King, claims he writes ten pages a day, every day. Ernest Hemingway, who claimed never to write while drunk, penned five-hundred words a day. Joyce Carol Oates writes longhand. (ouch!) Jack Kerouac observed several rituals before writing.

But whatever an author’s writing process is, the main objective is to get the words out.

So, how does my writing process work?

I write in varied genres. Everything from historical romance, to contemporaries, to BDSM, to kink. I usually start with the premise of a plot in my head and from there, develop the characters and their backstories. Since I write shorter erotic romance, my stories are focused more on the sexual relationship between the characters than an intensive plot. That said, my most plot heavy story is a historical, Every Waking Hour, with an alcoholic heroine.

What am I working on?

I just finished Satin Sheets, the second book in my BDSM, Honkytonk Angels series, about a Nashville record producer who puts her theory to the test that submissives will make the best members for her rockabilly band. The first in the series, Fall to Pieces, releases March 14 at Ellora’s Cave!

How does my work differ from others of its genre?

It’s difficult to determine how one’s own work is different, however, based on my reviews, the readers love my love scenes. I try to mix emotion with graphic sex without it reading as slick. I’m not one of those authors who writes a love scene based on porn flicks. Mine center around the characters' emotions about being intimate and vulnerable with the other person.

Why do I write what I do?

I’ve enjoyed exploring the psyche of my characters within the BDSM context, but I’d love to do some more serious writing, along the lines of Sarah Waters.

How does your writing process work?

Mine begins with cutting off all distractions. The television. Damn those Olympics! The house that is in desperate need of cleaning. Those lunch invitations I love so much…

I write around thirty pages without self-editing. Then I go back and re-read, filling out descriptions, setting scenes, catching my plethora of typos, and flushing out my characters.

Writing for me also involves regular visits to the massage therapist and the chiropractor. Long hours at the computer take a toll on my neck and shoulders. And I am a bit of an admitted hedonist. :-)

It’s really very simple. If I can park my ass at my desk and avoid social media, I can get some words on the page.

So, there it is! My insanely simple writing process.

She returned to her email account and let out another heavy sigh, noting its overflowing spam folder. She jumped to the page, clicking the mouse, intending on some merciless deleting to vent frustrations. Are You Lonely? Click Me. a header stated, SEXMAGIC the sender. Jess scowled at the intrusive words, directing the arrow over delete.

“Not lonely enough for your porn virus, sorry.”

Jess tapped the mouse and instead of vanishing, the email popped open onto the screen. An electric charge shot from the keyboard up her arms and she jerked back in shock. All seemed well with the computer while she flexed her tingling fingers. She scanned the page. The title Simple Love Spell, a list of items, along with directions for their use, a harmless site. No spread-eagle women, no hard veiny penises, no flashing banners, just a short innocent paragraph.

She rubbed her tired eyes, contemplating her next move. “Oh, why the heck not?”

The spell seemed indeed simple, requiring a pink candle, some paper and pen and a white rose. Jess pushed away from the desk then searched drawers in the office, afterward lining up her spell items by the computer. Okay, she’d have to make do with a purple candle and red silk rose, surely improvising wouldn’t affect make-believe magic? The site directed her to write down requirements for love. Tall, witty, gorgeous, intelligent, sweet and compassionate —a reasonable list by all accounts.

She tore apart the silk rose and sprinkled the petals around the candle, then lit it.

“Our fate is sealed. We are one. So mote it be, it is done!” She repeated the words three times per the site’s instructions and fell silent, holding her breath.

Guest Blog - Kerry Freeman - Chicks Dig the Long Ball: On Being a Female Baseball Fan

Today, I'm hosting my friend, Kerry Freeman, who's stopping by on the blog tour for Playing Ball, the male/male baseball themed anthology in which she has a yummy story. Welcome, Kerry!

Oh, and don't forget to enter the contest! You could win a copy of playing ball and all sorts of other author swag.

As a child, I was a huge tomboy, and I loved watching baseball. It was the 70s, and my team was the Phillies. Don’t ask me why a girl in Alabama was a Philadelphia fan; I don’t even remember. But I remember watching the games on TV and cheering for Mike Schmidt and Pete Rose.

Sometime around middle school, I stopped being a sports fan. Always a huge music fan, it became my obsession. Baseball was just one of those “kid things” I wasn’t interested in anymore.

Fast forward to 1998. The home run race was on, and, like everyone else, I was sucked into it like most of America. But by then my appreciation was twofold. My love of the game was renewed, and I also was a little more...um...appreciative of the players.

As a female baseball fan, you’re reluctant to admit that you are a fan of a particular player because you think they’re cute or attractive or sexy. Especially to your significant other. I’m pretty sure my husband will never let me forget overhearing a conversation between my cousin and me. So we were discussing how much we like sitting behind the on deck circle at the minor league games and looking at all the cute butts in tight baseball pants. So what? That doesn’t mean I don’t like the game.

The Atlanta Braves are not my favorite team because I think they have the most attractive players. Did I call in sick to work one day in 1999 (pre-hubby days) because the Braves player I was crushing on was doing an appearance? Sure. Did I get a picture taken with said player and completely forget how to talk, looking like a total dork? Maybe. Go to a three-game stand by myself in 2000 (still pre-hubby days) because the dumbass Braves traded the player in the offseason and his team was back in town to play his former team?

Okay, fine, I crush on the players sometimes. (BTW, that player is retired, so hubby can rest easily.) But I do LOVE the game. One of my favorite sounds in the world is that crack when the ball hits the bat’s sweet spot and you just know it’s going into the stands. I love the parks (especially Turner Field). I love the geometry of the field, and the logic of the rules.

And if I ship some of the players? Yeah, I keep that to myself ;)

“The one constant through all the years... has been baseball.” — Field of Dreams

Baseball, America’s Pastime, carries with it a mythology like no other spo

rt, entwined with the ups and downs of the nation. In Playing Ball, authors Shae Connor, Kerry Freeman, Marguerite Labbe, and Kate McMurray explore the love for baseball and among the men who play it, from the 1920s through modern times. These four stories tell the tales of baseball men who find love off the field, whether with the heir to a baseball empire, a sports reporter, a fan, or even each other after their playing careers come to an end.

College student Toby MacMillan, grandson of Atlanta Braves owner Ray MacMillan, works with the team’s locker room crew during the baseball season. It’s there that he meets Caleb Browning, who’s getting his first shot at the big leagues, and Toby, who’s been trying to keep his sexuality under wraps, finds himself smitten. An innocent dinner soon turns into a not-so-innocent night together in Caleb’s bed, but Toby quickly calls things off, afraid of the ramifications of their tryst.

Unable to avoid each other because of their jobs, the two men develop a tentative friendship, but it soon becomes more. After Caleb takes a fastball to the head during a game, Toby’s presence at his hospital bedside catches the attention of more than just the medical staff. Their budding romance hits the news, and Toby’s grandfather threatens to cut Toby out of team ownership unless he denies it. Facing a choice between the team he’s loved all his life and the man he could love for the rest of it, Toby has to decide if he’s ready to make a stand.

For as long as Ruben Martell has known him, he's been in love with his best friend Alan Hartner. They played together, traveled together and publicly dueled on opposite teams. Now years later they're both retired from the Major Leagues, are running a business together and coaching rival Little League teams. And in all those years, Ruben hasn't given up hope that Alan might return his feelings one day, but now he's starting to believe that Alan will never chose to move beyond the memory of his late wife.

Alan quit the game at the height of his career to take care of his sons and the one constant he's been able to rely on is Ruben. In all that time he has tried to forget about the night everything changed, only being with Ruben on a day-to-day basis is weakening his resolve. They'd stepped over the line before and it had hurt their friendship and left Alan with a guilt he didn't know how to handle. Alan doesn't want to do anything to jeopardize that friendship now even if it mean denying the feelings he's kept locked away for so long.

In the summer of 1927, all anyone in New York can talk about is Babe Ruth and the Yankees’ Murderer’s Row, the unstoppable batting lineup that no other team can beat. Skip Littlefield, an infielder for the less flashy New York Giants, is happy to let the Babe take the spotlight, even as he starts hitting as well as Ruth himself. Sports journalist Walter Selby has gained a reputation for being something of a dandy. He’s a force to be reckoned with, too, as one of the most dynamic voices in the daily papers. And now he can’t help but notice the talented first baseman helping the Giants race for the pennant. Then he meets the man and is left breathless—Skip is talented, soft-spoken, and also incredibly handsome. And Walt quickly comes to understand why Skip wants to stay out of the spotlight.

Against the backdrop of the lights of Times Square, the excitement of the era, and some of the most incredible baseball anyone has ever played, Skip starts to fall for Walt. But no one can know. Skip’s only hope is that the more charismatic stars will draw attention away from the quite romance blooming between Skip and Walt, or else Skip’s whole career and everything he loves is at stake.

After the last game of his major league career, Jake Wilson is hitting the road, and he's making a few stops along the way. He has an ex-wife with a new life in New Mexico, a son following in his footsteps in Oklahoma, a daughter with an announcement in Tennessee, and the gamble of a lifetime in Georgia. In 2,500 miles, his life will completely change, and he can only hope that his visit to his first love will cause everything to change for the better.

It had been a lonely few months in Atlanta. Jake had gone from being a high school baseball star to just another hick jock. It didn’t matter that his test scores and grades would have gotten him into Georgia Tech regardless of the baseball scholarship. The smart kids looked down their noses at him. And the other jocks? Until Jake played a game and played it well, he was only a wannabe freshman.

The first day of preseason training, it all started to turn around for him. He and the other freshman bonded over their mutual desire to prove they were worthy to wear the gold and white. They worked hard and cheered each other on. They quickly became favorites of the handful of regular practice spectators, who all seemed to have a soft spot for the awkward newcomers.

One spectator stood out. Jake tried not to stare, but he couldn’t stop his surreptitious glances at the man. Jake had known since forever that he could be turned on by men as well as women, but this was different. The man’s square jaw and tight swimmer’s body made Jake have evil, evil thoughts, thoughts of things way beyond the frenzied hand and blow jobs he’d experienced with other equally frightened high school boys.

Jake also had more tender thoughts, which he found slightly frightening. Every time the man brushed his hair from his eyes, Jake wondered if the hair was soft, how it would feel if he ran his fingers through it. He snuck enough glances to determine that the man’s almond-shaped eyes were a beautiful hazel, and, more often than not, those eyes were trained on Jake. Worst of all, Jake wanted to pull the man’s full bottom lip between his and find out how the man tasted. He had never kissed a man, but God, he wanted to kiss this one.

After a few weeks of torture, Jake decided he’d had enough. He might make a fool of himself. He might even get his ass kicked. But he was going to talk to the man who’d been starring in his dreams.

When practice was over, Jake hung back on the field, waiting for the other players to head toward the locker room and hopefully out of earshot. He’d noticed days before that the man would not leave right away; he’d linger, reading a book or relaxing on the bleachers. It was almost as if he were waiting for someone. Then again, Jake thought, that could be his own wishful thinking.

As he walked, Jake brushed off his pants and straightened his cap. When the man looked up from his book to see Jake heading his way, his smile was unmistakable. Jake was sure he’d never seen a clearer invitation to come closer, and he struggled to keep his feet from speeding up. He needed to play this cool, keep his intentions a secret until he was sure they were welcome.

“Hey.” Jake shoved his glove under his arm. “What you reading?”

The man waved the small paperback. “Oh, this? To Kill A Mockingbird. I have been told it is a classic American novel. I like it so far.”

Oh holy fuck, Jake thought. He has an accent on top of everything else. The man’s voice was cool and smooth, like a window in an air-conditioned room. It sent frissons cascading over Jake’s sweat-damp skin. Each word was clearly enunciated, crisp.

Jake sat down, leaving a respectable distance between them. “It is. I read it in high school, and it’s pretty good.”

The man folded the corner of a page and closed the book. “We read a few American novels in school in Finland, but not this one. I think I may recommend it to my teacher back home.”

“Finland? How did you end up here?”

“I wanted more sunshine and warmth. My family visited friends in Savannah once, and I fell in love with Georgia.”

“Well, you definitely came to the right place for sunshine.” Jake was positive if he heard much more of the man’s accent, he would melt on the spot. “I’m Jake Wilson,” he said, holding out his hand.

The man stared at Jake’s hand before finally shaking it. “I know,” he said. “I read about you in the student paper. My name is Mikko Niemi.”
